The Montana State University Bobcats, advanced to the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs with an 35-14 opening round victory over Incarnate Word. Waiting for the Cats in round 2 was the defending national champion and 12-0 North Dakota State Bison. NDSU has won the FCS National Title every year since 2011 sans the 2016 season.
The daunting challenge before the Bobcats proved to be just that, as the Bison came out hot, scoring early and often. MSU would actually strike first, as Tristan Baily would make a 24 yard field goal, just two minutes and seven seconds in the contest. NDSU would then reel off 38 unanswered points, leading by 35 at the half.
The Cats would open the 2nd half scoring as well, on a Troy Anderson 51 yard touchdown run, making it 38-10… that’s as close as it would get, as NDSU, would score two second half touchdowns, for the 52-10 win.
MSU was led by quarterback Troy Anderson, who threw for 124 yards, while rushing for 129 and a score. Bobcat receiver Kevin Kassis had 4 receptions for 93 yards.
With the loss Montana State finishes their season with an 8-5 record
